Ferries without a coast
With no sea of its own, Innlandet's boat services work its great inland waters — above all Lake Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake, and the smaller lakes and rivers of the valleys. These are seasonal, heritage and leisure services more than daily links, and they give the region a ferry character found nowhere else in the country.
The Skibladner
The Skibladner — nicknamed the 'White Swan of Mjøsa' — has sailed the lake since 1856 and is the world's oldest paddle steamer still in operation. It runs a scheduled summer service between the lakeside towns, a slow, elegant voyage taken for the experience itself. It's the one 'ferry' in Innlandet that visitors seek out by name.
