Ferries from Gjendebu

Gjendebu sits at the western end of lake Gjende in Jotunheimen, reached by boat in twenty minutes from Memurubu, with four sailings between 08:05 and 16:25. There is no road: the lodge here is served by the lake boat and by mountain paths. Gjende's water is a striking green from glacial silt, and the ridge above it is Besseggen — the most walked day route in Norway, which most people do by taking the boat one way and walking back. The service runs in the summer season only. The lodge is run by the Norwegian Trekking Association, which maintains the hut network across Jotunheimen and marks the paths between them.
