Ferries from Eidsvoll Skibladnerbrygga

This is the southern end of the lake and the longest single run on it: 20 nautical miles to Evjua, 125 minutes northbound and 140 coming back, twice a week, leaving at 14:40 and arriving from the 12:20.

Two hours and twenty minutes on the return against two hours and five going out — the boat works harder heading south into the outflow than it does coming up the lake.

Eidsvoll is where the Norwegian constitution was signed on 17 May 1814, in a manor house a short distance from this pier, and the railway from Oslo reached here in 1854. That is not a coincidence: the train came to Eidsvoll and passengers transferred to the lake steamer for the journey north. The paddle steamer that carried them, delivered in 1856, is the same vessel that ties up at this quay today.
