Ferries from Bygdin brygge

Bygdin is the eastern landing on the lake of the same name in Jotunheimen, 45 minutes to Torfinnsbu, four sailings from 09:05 to 16:30. The lake sits at over a thousand metres and freezes for much of the year, so the boat runs only in the summer months. It carries walkers heading into the national park — the paths from the far end lead up towards Gjendesheim and the high routes — along with supplies for the mountain lodges, which have no road access. Bygdin is one of two large lakes running east-west through the range; Gjende, the other, is a valley to the north and has its own boat service. Torfinnsbu is reachable only by this boat or on foot across the mountains.
