About
About Memurubu
Memurubu is a lodge with no road, and two boat routes are its entire connection. Gjendesheim is 5 nautical miles east with 22 sailings a week; Gjendebu 4.5 miles west with 14, from 08:05 to 16:25.
The eastern service ends on 19 September, the western one on the 13th — the deeper into the mountains a leg goes, the earlier in the autumn it stops.
The lodge sits on the delta the Memuru river has built out into the lake, the only flat ground on this shore, and it has taken in walkers since the 1870s. Most arrive on the morning boat, sleep, and leave over the ridge; some walk the length of the lake between the three lodges. Nothing here is reachable by car, which makes a 20-minute crossing the difference between a night indoors and a long day's detour.
