About

About Brumunddal Skibladnerbrygga

Brumunddal is a call on the Skibladner, the paddle steamer that has worked lake Mjøsa since 1856 and is the oldest vessel of its kind still in service anywhere. Four sailings appear in the timetable, an hour to Gjøvik or Hamar. The ship runs in summer only, on a schedule that has barely changed in a century and a half — she was built to carry passengers and freight between the lake towns before the railway, and now carries visitors on the same route at the same unhurried pace. Mjøsa is Norway's largest lake, and the steamer's route between Hamar, Gjøvik and Lillehammer follows the towns that grew along its shores.
