Kolumbus Schedules 2026

Kolumbus is the public transport authority for Rogaland, the county around Stavanger in south-west Norway. Its water routes reach the islands of the Ryfylke archipelago and the city islands in Stavanger harbour, mixing car ferries with fast passenger boats.

The network

Most crossings are short island links: Judaberg–Fogn (15 minutes by ferry, 5–10 by fast boat), Fogn–Talgje (5 minutes), and the small hops between Hellesøy, Tunsøy and Kalvøy that take two or three minutes each. From Stavanger, the Fiskepirterminalen–Vassøy boat runs to the city islands in about 18 minutes.

Beyond these, Kolumbus covers the fast boats to Feøy and Røvær, services in the Lysefjord, the Ryfylke ferry and the crossing to Utsira, Norway's smallest municipality by population.

🔑 Two ticket systems — the city card does not cover everything

This is the trap. Kolumbus sells water tickets in two different places depending on the route:

• Stavanger – Byøyene – Hommersåk: an ordinary ticket in the Kolumbus app, or your Kolumbuskort, exactly like the bus.
• Everything else — the Ryfylke fast boats, Feøy, Røvær, the Lysefjord boat and ferry, the Ryfylke ferry and Utsira — must be bought through billetter.kolumbus.no, separately.

So a valid city travel card is not automatically a ticket to Ryfylke. Check which system your route belongs to before you reach the quay. Seat reservation on the Ryfylke ferry is handled through the same booking site, and online bookings take priority over turning up.

Who operates the boats

Kolumbus plans and funds; Norled operates the Finnøy and Ryfylke connections under contract. That is why Norled's own website points passengers to Kolumbus for timetables on those routes — the schedule belongs to the authority, not the shipping company.

Route changes are made periodically across the whole network; a substantial revision took effect on 1 July 2026, affecting boat services alongside the bus contracts in Nord-Jæren, Jæren and Dalane.
