Ropeid hurtigbåtkai is a small express-boat quay on the Ropeid peninsula in Suldal municipality, deep in northern Ryfylke, Rogaland. It sits on the passenger-only Kolumbus hurtigbåt (express boat) that runs the length of the Ryfylke fjords, all year round, between Stavanger and Sauda. This is a foot-passenger service — the fast boats do not carry cars — so plan Ropeid as a walk-on stop rather than a vehicle crossing.

What makes Ropeid useful is that it is an interchange, not a destination. On the inner-fjord leg the express boat calls in sequence at Marvik, Foldøy, Ropeid, Hebnes, Jelsa, Sand and finally Sauda, so from the quay you can reach any of these communities by water. Just as importantly, Ropeid is where the boat meets the road: the Kolumbus bus line 150 (Sauda–Ropeid–Ølen) connects here, letting travellers step off the express boat and continue overland to Sauda, or the other way, joining the fjord network from the Ølen/Haugesund side. For anyone heading to the head of the Saudafjord, the boat-to-Ropeid, bus-to-Sauda combination is a long-standing local routing.

The quay itself is modest — a peninsula landing surrounded by fjord water and steep mountainside, with the well-known Nasjonal Turistveg (National Tourist Route) architecture nearby framing the view. There is no large terminal building or ticket hall you would expect at a city port; expect a rural stop where you board with a Kolumbus ticket bought through the app or on board. Departures are limited to the express-boat timetable (a handful of sailings per day in each direction), so check the current Kolumbus schedule before travelling, as some smaller calls are on-request or vary by season.

Ropeid is worth understanding as the hinge of the northern Ryfylke network: fjord one way, mountain road the other, tying together Suldal, the Saudafjord and the outer islands. If you are connecting between Stavanger, Sand and Sauda, this is the point where sea and bus routes overlap.
