Ferries from Judaberg hurtigbåtkai

Nine routes from one small quay, and five of them are under ten minutes. Judaberg on Finnøy is the hub of a Ryfylke express boat web that works like a rural bus network — except the roads are water and the stops are islands.

⚠ Finnøy has a tunnel; the small islands do not

Finnøy itself is connected to the mainland by the Finnfast subsea tunnel, so Judaberg can be driven to. The islands it serves — Fogn, Halsnøy, Talgje, Helgøy — cannot, and the express boat is their only scheduled link.

That is the logic of this quay: a road head where the road stops, feeding boats to places the road will never reach.

Reading the timetable

Routes with one or two sailings are not reduced versions of the busy ones — they are a different kind of service, often a single daily run timed for school or shopping. Treat a listed connection as real only after checking the day of the week.

Ryfylke

This is the fjord and island district northeast of Stavanger: fruit farming, salmon, and a scatter of small communities that were entirely sea-connected within living memory. Finnøy is known for its tomatoes, which sounds unlikely at this latitude and is nonetheless the local industry.

Practicalities

Passenger express boats, not car ferries. Bring the car to Judaberg through the tunnel and leave it; take the boat onward as a foot passenger.
