Trasmediterránea is the historic Spanish line to the islands and the North African cities, and it now trades as part of Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea — the same group as Naviera Armas, sharing one website and one booking system.

Melilla is the thing this operator is for

Three of the four routes we hold serve Melilla, the Spanish enclave on the North African coast. Almería to Melilla runs 360 minutes with departures at 23:00 and 23:59; the return at 15:30 and 16:45; and Málaga to Melilla takes 390 minutes at 14:00. For a city with no land border into Spain, these sailings are the connection.

Out at midnight, back in the afternoon

The direction split is deliberate. Sailings to Melilla leave Almería at 23:00 and 23:59, arriving in the morning; sailings back leave Melilla in the mid-afternoon. Six hours overnight one way, six hours in daylight the other — a pattern built so that a vehicle or a passenger loses a night rather than a working day going out.

Fifteen and a half hours to Menorca

The outlier is Valencia to Mahón at 930 minutes, departing 22:00. That is the long way to the Balearics — Menorca is the furthest of the islands from the peninsula and Valencia is not the shortest port for it. It is an overnight crossing where the cabin is the point.

Two brands, one company, same route

Because Trasmediterránea and Naviera Armas now sit inside the same group, you can find both names on the Almería–Melilla corridor and be booking with the same organisation. It is worth knowing before you spend time comparing them as though they were competitors.

Four routes here, a much larger network

The group operates extensively across the Canaries, the Balearics and the Strait of Gibraltar, and also runs to Morocco and Algeria. What we hold is a small sample of the peninsula-to-Melilla corridor plus one Balearic crossing. An absence on this page is our gap, not a discontinued service.
