Ferries from Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Santa Cruz is Tenerife's capital and its commercial port, and it faces the wrong way for most ferry passengers. The busy inter-island quay is Los Cristianos in the south. What our timetable holds here is 8 sailings — all of them on one crossing, and all recorded as arrivals.

Agaete to Santa Cruz de Tenerife — about 80 minutes, 8 sailings, operated by Fred. Olsen Express. Agaete is on the northwest coast of Gran Canaria.

This is the fast Gran Canaria link and the one piece of this port's traffic we hold reliably.

Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario, Morro Jable and the long mainland crossings to Cádiz (about 43 hours) and Huelva (about 40 hours) exist as routes and hold no schedules in our data.

Several are long-established services. Check the operators directly rather than planning a two-day Atlantic crossing on a page that cannot confirm it.

The mainland crossing

Forty-plus hours from the Canaries to Andalusia is one of the longest passenger ferry journeys in Europe, and it exists for vehicles and freight rather than for people in a hurry. Anyone moving house, shipping a car or unwilling to fly uses it; everybody else takes the two-and-a-half-hour flight.

Which Tenerife port to use

For La Gomera, El Hierro and quick La Palma runs, go to Los Cristianos in the south. For Gran Canaria and the eastern islands, Santa Cruz is the right side of the island. Getting that wrong costs an hour and a half of driving.

Where the port is

The passenger terminals sit against Santa Cruz's city centre, with the auditorium and the main streets immediately behind. Tenerife North airport is about fifteen minutes away, Tenerife South closer to an hour.
