About

About Los Cristianos

Three of the four western Canary Islands are reached from this one quay in southern Tenerife. La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma all have their fast-ferry link here — which makes Los Cristianos the gateway to the quiet end of the archipelago.

Where the ships go

9 active sailings, all Fred. Olsen Express in our data.

⚠ La Gomera is a day trip; the other two are not

Fifty minutes each way with a handful of sailings makes La Gomera workable in a day from Tenerife, and thousands of people do exactly that. El Hierro and La Palma are two and a half hours each way with two sailings — the arithmetic does not close.

Treat those as overnight destinations. A same-day return to La Palma leaves you about three hours on the island, most of it near the port.

The Atlantic crossing

These are ocean channels, not sheltered straits, and the swell between the western islands is real. The fast craft are the first thing cancelled when it builds, and cancellations here strand you rather than delay you.

If you have a flight out of Tenerife, do not come back from El Hierro on the same day.

The port and the resort

Los Cristianos is a large resort town on the sunny southern coast, and the ferry terminal sits at the western end of its harbour, next to the fishing port and the beach. Tenerife South airport is around twenty minutes away by road.

That proximity is why this quay, rather than the capital's, became the western hub.

Season

Year round — the western islands need these boats. Winter brings more cancellations, not fewer sailings.
