Poland ferry routes & schedules

Poland's Baltic coast is one of the main ferry gateways between central Europe and Sweden. Two clusters of ports face Scandinavia: Świnoujście in the west, right on the German border, and the Tri-City ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk in the east. Together they carry cars, motorhomes, coaches and freight as well as foot passengers, making the sea the practical alternative to the long drive around the Baltic through Germany and Denmark.

Western crossings: Świnoujście to Skåne

From Świnoujście the shortest and busiest routes reach southern Sweden in six to seven hours. Unity Line and Polferries sail to Ystad, TT-Line and Unity Line to Trelleborg, and Finnlines runs an overnight ferry to Malmö. Between them there are several sailings a day, including daytime and overnight departures with cabins.

Eastern crossings: the Tri-City to Sweden

From the Gulf of Gdańsk, Stena Line sails from Gdynia to Karlskrona in about ten and a half hours, with up to two departures a day, while Polferries links Gdańsk with Nynäshamn near Stockholm on a long overnight crossing a few times a week.

Which crossing to choose

If you are travelling to or from Berlin, eastern Germany or the Polish coast, Świnoujście is the natural gateway, with the most frequent and quickest sailings to Skåne. If you are heading to or from Warsaw, Gdańsk and central-eastern Poland, the Gdynia and Gdańsk crossings save a long westward detour. All the routes are full drive-on car ferries; booking ahead online is cheaper and secures a vehicle space in the summer.
