Finnlines Schedules 2026

Finnlines has run Baltic ferries since 1947, and it is one of the few operators where the freight deck, not the passenger deck, sets the timetable. The same ro-pax ships that carry holidaymakers to Finland carry the trailers that stock Finnish shops — which is why sailings leave at two in the morning and why the fleet keeps going through January. Around 190 departures a week leave its berths, and the twenty vessels between them offer roughly 88,000 lane metres of deck space. The head office is at Komentosilta 1 in Helsinki, and the company has belonged to Italy's Grimaldi Group since 2015.

Four passenger routes

Only four lines in the network are open to passengers. Travemünde–Helsinki is the long one at 31 hours and the only direct sea link between Finland and continental Europe. Kapellskär–Långnäs–Naantali crosses to Sweden twice a day and calls at Långnäs on Åland on every single sailing. Malmö–Travemünde runs up to three times a day across the southern Baltic, and Świnoujście–Malmö adds one overnight crossing from Poland. Everything else Finnlines operates is freight only.

The ships

Nine of the twenty vessels carry passengers. The newest are the hybrid Superstar ships Finnsirius and Finncanopus, both delivered in 2023 for the Åland route and carrying about 1,100 people each. The Star class — Finnstar and Finnmaid (2006), Finnlady and Finnswan (2007) — works the German run, while the older Finnpartner and Finntrader (both 1995) and Finnfellow (2000) cover the southern Baltic. The remaining eleven ships are freight vessels or on charter: nine ro-ros of Finnlines' own, among them the three Finneco hybrids of 2021–22, plus Finnmerchant and Vizzavona chartered out to other operators.

Booking and boarding

Fares are quoted in euros, and on the overnight legs a cabin is effectively part of the ticket rather than an extra. Check-in closes an hour before departure on most routes and two hours before on the German run, and at Helsinki, Naantali and Kapellskär foot passengers are driven out to the ship by shuttle bus rather than walking aboard. The check-in booths take cards only — Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard and Maestro — and no cash.
