About

About Långnäs

Långnäs is Åland's long-haul ferry harbour, on the east coast of Lumparland about 30 km from Mariehamn. It is a small place — a terminal building, a handful of check-in booths, a berth — but every Finnlines sailing between Sweden and Finland calls here, which gives it six international departures a day.

Westbound ships leave for Kapellskär at 15:00 or 16:00 and again at 03:55, a crossing of about 3½ hours. Eastbound they leave for Naantali at 15:15 or 15:30 and at 02:10, taking closer to five. The call itself is brief — 10 to 15 minutes — so vehicles joining here drive aboard while the ship is still discharging.

Ålandstrafiken also uses the harbour for its domestic link to Mariehamn. For Finnlines night departures there is no check-in desk ashore: passengers are checked in on board, and need only reach the port half an hour before sailing with a booking confirmation and identification. Åland keeps Finnish time, an hour ahead of Sweden.
