About Kapellskär
Kapellskär is Stockholm's outer ferry port, 90 km north-east of the city in Norrtälje municipality, used by ships that would otherwise spend hours picking their way through the Stockholm archipelago. There is no town attached to it — a terminal building, parking, and a road out to the E18.
Finnlines runs three departures a day from here, and every one of them calls at Långnäs on Åland before continuing to Naantali: at 10:30 or 10:45 in the morning and 21:45 at night. The Åland leg takes 3½ hours, the full crossing to Finland about 8½.
Check-in opens two hours before departure and closes an hour before. Drivers follow road sign C to the booths; foot passengers follow sign B to the terminal and are taken out to the ship by shuttle bus. Sweden runs an hour behind Finland and Åland, so arrival times shown on the timetable are in destination local time — the crossing is always shorter than the printed hours suggest.
