About

About Jadrolinija

Jadrolinija is the largest passenger shipping company in Croatia and the backbone of transport along the Adriatic coast. State-owned and based in Rijeka, it was founded on 20 January 1947, building on Adriatic liner traditions going back to the 19th century.

The islands' lifeline

From mainland hubs at Split, Zadar, Rijeka, Šibenik and Dubrovnik, a fleet of around 54 vessels — big car ferries, ~38 smaller local ferries and a dozen fast catamarans — connects the Dalmatian and Kvarner islands: Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Vis, Mljet, Lastovo, Cres, Rab and many more. Across the sea, international car ferries link Ancona to Split and Zadar and Bari to Dubrovnik.

Scale and fares

Jadrolinija carried some 12.7 million passengers and 3.8 million vehicles in 2024. Fares are in euros (Croatia adopted the euro in 2023), with separate passenger and vehicle tickets, island-resident and return discounts, and cabin classes on the overnight international lines. A €280 million programme announced in 2025 will bring around ten new alternative-fuel ships from 2027–28.
