About

About Supetar

Every vehicle that reaches Brač arrives here. Supetar has the island's only car-ferry link to the mainland, which makes a town of a few thousand people the front door for Croatia's third-largest island — and puts the island's most famous beach forty minutes away over a mountain.

The crossing

Split to Supetar takes about 50 minutes, with 4 sailings in our timetable, run by Jadrolinija. It is the most-searched crossing from Split by a clear margin.

This is a conventional car ferry rather than a catamaran, which is why it lands here rather than in a passenger-only harbour, and why the timetable is built around vehicle capacity.

⚠ Supetar is not where Zlatni Rat is

The beach in every photograph of Brač is at Bol, on the opposite coast. The road between the two crosses the island's spine and takes roughly forty minutes.

Bol has its own seasonal catamaran from Split, which lands you next to the beach instead. If Bol is the destination and you have no car, that is the crossing to look for; if you have a vehicle, Supetar is the only option and the drive is part of the trip.

What is at the quay

The ferry ramp is in the middle of Supetar's waterfront, with the bus station beside it — the island's road network fans out from this point, which is why arrival here works even without a car.

The town itself is the largest on Brač and functions year round rather than closing after September, because the island has a resident population that uses this ferry as its road.

Booking and boarding

Vehicle space on the summer sailings is the constraint. Foot passengers rarely have difficulty; cars in July and August frequently do, and the queue forms on the Split side rather than here.

For the wider picture — which Dalmatian island lands where, and when a catamaran beats a car ferry — see the Split guide.
