About
About Bol
Bol is on the south side of Brač, facing the open Adriatic, and its harbour exists in the shadow of a beach — Zlatni Rat, the shingle spit that changes shape with the current and appears on most Croatian tourism posters.
What sails
Our timetable holds 4 active sailings at this port, on the seasonal catamaran link to Split. This is a passenger service — the car ferry to Brač runs to Supetar on the north side of the island instead.
Departure times for the Bol services are not held in our data. Check the operator directly for the current season.
⚠ Bol and Supetar are on opposite sides of Brač
The main vehicle route from Split lands at Supetar, roughly forty minutes' drive north of Bol over the island's central ridge. The Bol catamaran is faster and seasonal and takes no cars.
Arriving at Supetar expecting to be at Zlatni Rat is a common mistake and an expensive taxi.
Zlatni Rat
The spit runs several hundred metres out from the shore and its tip swings east or west depending on the prevailing current and wind. It is shingle rather than sand, which surprises people, and it is busy from June to September.
The walk from the town along the pine-shaded path takes about twenty minutes.
Vidova Gora
The mountain above Bol is the highest point on any Adriatic island, and the road up gives the view of Zlatni Rat that everyone recognises. It is drivable and there is a marked path from the town for anyone with the legs.
Season
The catamaran links are a summer operation and reduce sharply or stop outside the season. Out of season, reach Bol via Supetar and the island road.
