Ferries from Dumaguete

Eight routes from one small city quay, reaching four different island groups. Dumaguete is the kind of port that only exists in an archipelago — a regional interchange where the boat is the road, and where the sailing list looks like a bus station departure board.

⚠ Fast craft and conventional ferries are different products

Several of these routes are served by both. The fast craft are quicker, air-conditioned, seat-only and cancelled first in bad weather; the conventional ships are slower, carry vehicles, and keep running when the fast boats do not.

A four-hour crossing and a ninety-minute one to the same place are not competing offers — they are different vessels with different cancellation risks. In typhoon season that difference matters more than the time saved.

Siquijor

The forty-five-minute hop is the busiest thing this port does. Siquijor has no airport, so every visitor arrives by sea, and Dumaguete is the nearest gateway.

The Manila route

Manila is listed at around 55 hours but currently holds no active departures in our data. Long-haul inter-island passenger shipping in the Philippines has contracted considerably as domestic flights spread — check with the operator before planning around it.

The port and the city

The terminal is in the centre of Dumaguete, on the seafront beside the boulevard, within walking distance of the university and the main hotels. The airport is a few kilometres north with flights to Manila and Cebu.
