OceanJet runs fast craft across the central Philippines, concentrated on Cebu and the islands around it: Tagbilaran on Bohol, Ormoc and Palompon on Leyte, and Siquijor — plus Bacolod–Iloilo across the Guimaras Strait and Batangas–Calapan from Luzon to Mindoro.

Built in Cebu, and it shows in the hull

The vessels use an axe bow — a near-vertical stem that cuts through waves rather than riding over them, holding speed in a chop where a conventional bow slows down. The company notes that these hulls are built in Cebu, not imported.

Rules that will actually affect you

The ticket conditions are stricter than a European traveller might expect, and they are enforced:

• Check in at least 30 minutes before departure. Miss it and your confirmed seat can be forfeited.
• A ticket is valid only for the voyage shown and is non-transferable. Lost tickets are not replaced or refunded.
• Refunds and revalidation are possible only within six months of issue.
• The carrier may search passengers before boarding. Firearms must be surrendered to the ship's captain and head of security before you board.
• The carrier reserves the right to refuse boarding to pregnant passengers, sick passengers and those with contagious diseases.

Booking

Fares are set by age band — adult 12 and over, child 2 to 11, infant under 2 — with a maximum of ten passengers per booking. Refunds and rebooking have their own section, and travel advisories are published separately from general news, which matters in typhoon season.

The network is built on connections, not just routes

Several destinations are reached by a published chain rather than a direct sailing. Siquijor is the clearest case: the 05.10 and 13.00 from Cebu connect at Tagbilaran onto the 07.30 and 15.20 for Siquijor, and the return works the same way. The Leyte–Mindanao chain runs Cebu 07.00 → Maasin 10.30 → Surigao, turning round at 13.00 to reach Cebu by 15.30. The through fare confirms the design — Cebu–Surigao is PHP 1,900, exactly Cebu–Maasin (1,100) plus Maasin–Surigao (800).

Published fares, two classes

Open-air and tourist class share a price; business class costs more. Cebu–Ormoc is PHP 1,100 against 1,600 business; Cebu–Tagbilaran 800 against 1,200; Bacolod–Iloilo 550 against 800; Batangas–Calapan 600 against 850; Cebu–Getafe 450 against 800. The cheapest crossing in the network is Siquijor–Dumaguete at PHP 350; the dearest single leg is Tagbilaran–Dumaguete at 900.

Thirty minutes, or your seat is gone

The ticket conditions are unusually explicit. Check in at least 30 minutes before departure — failing to do so "may mean forfeiture of confirmed seat reservation". There is no refund or revalidation at all for a passenger who checks in but does not board, and refunds lapse six months from issuance. Tickets are non-transferable and lost ones are not replaced.

Baggage limits are tighter than they look

Hand baggage is capped at 10 kg and 25 × 35 × 40 cm — noticeably stricter than the 15 kg allowed by some Philippine competitors. The carrier's liability is limited to PHP 100 per passenger for hand baggage, and the same for checked baggage and cargo unless a higher value is declared and a supplementary tariff paid. Anything unclaimed two days after the voyage may be disposed of, with storage fees chargeable.
