About
About Batangas
More than three million people leave through this port every year. Batangas is the busiest domestic passenger port in the Philippines and the main gateway between mainland Luzon and the Mimaropa islands — Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan — with over two hundred thousand vehicles moving through it annually.
The scale
- Over 3 million outbound passengers a year.
- More than 200,000 vehicles annually.
- A mix of high-speed inter-island craft and roll-on/roll-off vessels.
Our timetable holds 72 active sailings from Batangas, concentrated on the short crossings to Mindoro.
⚠ Roll-on/roll-off and fast craft are different products
The RoRo vessels carry vehicles and take longer; the fast craft carry foot passengers and take roughly half the time. Both serve the same destinations and both leave from this port, and they are sold side by side.
If you are travelling without a vehicle, the fast craft is usually worth the difference. If you are moving a motorbike or a car, the RoRo is the only option and the timetable is built around it.
Where it goes
The dominant flow is to Calapan on Mindoro, with further services to Puerto Galera and onward connections into Romblon and beyond. For most travellers this is the first leg of a journey that continues by road on the far side.
Getting to the port
Batangas City is about two to three hours south of Manila by road on the STAR tollway, and buses run directly to the port terminal from several Manila terminals. That road journey is the part most people underestimate — the crossing itself is short.
⚠ Weather closes this port
Typhoon season runs roughly June to November, and the coastguard suspends sailings when conditions require it. Suspensions are announced at short notice and can last more than a day.
Build slack into any itinerary that crosses to Mindoro in those months, and do not schedule the crossing immediately before a flight.
