The first catamaran RoRos in the country

FastCat owns and operates the Philippines' first and only catamaran roll-on/roll-off ferries. The twin hull gives more deck area and a steadier ride than a monohull of the same length — useful where vehicles and passengers travel together and the sea is rarely flat.

Three passenger classes, and real concessions

On Batangas–Calapan, the busiest crossing, full fares run ₱832 Business, ₱755 Premium Economy, ₱686 Economy. Students pay about a fifth less; senior citizens and persons with disability pay less again — ₱594, ₱539 and ₱490 — on production of a valid ID. Children aged 4 to 7 pay the student rate, and children of 3 and under travel free. The longer Bulalacao–Caticlan run is priced higher: ₱1,188 down to ₱1,030.

What the cargo tariff tells you

The freight list is where the archipelago shows through. It starts at ₱419 for a bicycle and ₱839 for a bicycle with sidecar, runs through tricycles at ₱2,518 and a family car at ₱3,357, and climbs to ₱18,456 for a 20-foot container, ₱31,881 for a 40-foot, and ₱37,372 for heavy equipment of 20 to 30 tonnes. The same sailing carries a commuter's bike and an excavator.

What it says about itself

The country's only catamaran RoRo fleet

The company behind FastCat is Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation, incorporated in 2003 to link an archipelago of 7,641 islands. It owns and operates the Philippines' first and only catamaran roll-on/roll-off ferries — a hull form chosen for speed and stability rather than the conventional monohull RoRo that dominates the country's routes. A re-fleeting programme begun in 2010 was carried out with international ship designers and builders.

Three cabin classes, and a discount structure that is published in full

Every route sells Business, Premium Economy and Economy. On Batangas–Calapan that is ₱832 / ₱755 / ₱686 at full fare. Students pay 20% less, senior citizens and persons with disability roughly 29% less with valid ID, children aged 4–7 the student rate, and children of three and under travel free. Longer routes cost more in the same proportions — Bulalacao–Caticlan business class is ₱1,188.

Rolling stock is priced by the vehicle, from a bicycle to a container

Because these are roll-on ships, the cargo tariff is unusually granular. On Batangas–Calapan: a bicycle ₱419, with sidecar ₱839, a motorcycle ₱1,678 (₱2,518 above 400cc), a car ₱3,357, a van or SUV ₱4,194, a mini-bus ₱6,712, a bus ₱10,068, a 40-foot container ₱31,881, and heavy equipment of 20–30 tonnes ₱37,372. The scale tells you what this operator actually moves: not tourists, but the freight an island economy runs on.

Each port has its own phone number

FastCat publishes a separate mobile number and street address for every terminal rather than a single call centre — Batangas on 0961-827-6932, Calapan on 0951-870-2885, Bulalacao on 0947-869-9790, Caticlan on 0981-425-7357. For a service where a missed sailing can mean a long wait, the local number is the one that answers.
