Ferries from Caticlan

The crossing to Boracay takes ten to fifteen minutes and runs twenty-four hours a day. The wait at this jetty has been known to take three. Understanding that asymmetry is the whole of what you need to know about Caticlan.

The Boracay boat

The short banca crossing from Caticlan Jetty Port to Boracay is the reason almost everyone is here. It operates round the clock and the water journey itself is trivially short. Berthing capacity at the jetty, not sailing time, is what governs how long it takes — at peak, waiting for a boat has consumed hours.

⚠ Caticlan is the mainland side, and it has an airport

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport — universally called Caticlan — is minutes from the jetty on the Panay mainland. That combination of a short flight and a short boat is why Boracay works as a weekend destination from Manila.

Kalibo airport, roughly two hours away by road, is the cheaper alternative and the reason some transfers take a morning rather than fifteen minutes.

Fees

Boracay charges an environmental fee and a terminal fee on top of the boat fare, collected at the jetty. They are small individually and worth having cash for, because the queue to pay them is part of the three hours.

Season

The Mindoro and Panay routes run year round. Typhoon season suspends sailings without much notice, and the short Boracay crossing stops in heavy weather like anything else.
