SuperCat Fast Ferry Corporation runs fast craft across southern Luzon and the Visayas, with over 30 years of service and a fleet of eleven fast craft.

The three routes it is known for

Batangas–Calapan carries traffic from Luzon to Mindoro; Cebu–Ormoc crosses to Leyte; and Cebu–Tagbilaran reaches Bohol — the shortest way to the Chocolate Hills.

Cebu–Ormoc, four times a day each way

Departures run at 05:30, 09:00, 12:30 and 16:00 from both ends, daily.

Three classes — and one of them is outdoors

On Cebu–Ormoc, Business Class is ₱1,650, Tourist Class ₱1,210, and Economy — open air — also ₱1,210. That last detail is worth knowing: the open-air deck costs the same as the enclosed tourist cabin, so the choice is about whether you want the wind, not the money.

Concessions apply across all classes: students pay 20% less, senior citizens and persons with disability around 29% less (₱1,178.57 in Business, ₱864.28 in Tourist), children aged 3 to 11 pay half, and infants of 1 to 2 pay a flat ₱25.

The crossing that made the company

MV SuperCat 1 entered service in February 1995 on Batangas–Calapan, a 24-nautical-mile channel that conventional vessels were then taking three to four hours to cross. At a service speed of 32 knots the new craft did it in 45 minutes. The company behind it was Universal Aboitiz, a joint venture between Aboitiz Shipping and Hong Kong's Parkview Group Holdings. Cebu–Ormoc, Cebu–Tagbilaran and Cebu–Dumaguete followed the same year.

Four owners in thirty years

A merger with Sea Angels Fast Ferry in 1997 created Philippine Fast Ferry Corp., which at sixteen vessels was the country's largest fast ferry operator. A 2002 restructuring produced the present name under Aboitiz Transport System, along with a re-fleeting that replaced waterjet propulsion with propeller drives to cut fuel and maintenance — and the first online ticketing system in the Philippine fast ferry industry. The company passed to the 2GO Group in December 2010, and in 2019 to the Udenna Group through Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings.

Ships named after archangels

The current fleet is listed as St. Braquiel, St. Camael, St. Jhudiel, St. Sariel and St. Sealthiel. St. Camael and St. Sariel were built by Austal Philippines and launched in 2017 specifically for Cebu–Ormoc. In February 2020 MV Sprint 1 joined as the first Philippine vessel crewed entirely by women.

What the fare buys

Three classes are sold: business, tourist, and an open-air economy priced the same as tourist. On Cebu–Ormoc that is PHP 1,650 business and PHP 1,210 tourist, with students at 20% off, seniors and PWD lower again, children aged 3–11 at half the business fare, and infants charged a flat PHP 25. These are passenger-only craft — there is no vehicle deck.

Baggage and pets

Two hand-carried bags per passenger, up to 0.10 cubic metres in total, with 15 kg free and excess at PHP 15 per kilo. Pets need both a Veterinary Health Certificate and a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry — the certificate is a prerequisite for the permit — must be caged, must travel with a passenger, and are placed in an allocated area. The fee is paid at terminal check-in and runs from PHP 150 for a small animal to PHP 450 for extra large.
