Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Puerto del Rosario Ferry

This crossing connects Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Puerto del Rosario, the capital and main port of Fuerteventura, and is operated by Naviera Armas (Armas Trasmediterránea). It is one of the longest scheduled inter-island ferry links in the Canaries, because Fuerteventura sits far to the east of Tenerife, beyond Gran Canaria.

The route is worked by Naviera Armas's large conventional ro-pax ferries such as the Volcán de Tagoro, Volcán de Taidía and Ciudad de Valencia, ships that carry well over a thousand passengers and several hundred vehicles. Most sailings are not direct: the typical pattern is a stopover at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On some services passengers remain onboard through the Gran Canaria call for a single long crossing, while on other days the journey is made as a connection with a transfer between ferries in Gran Canaria. As a result, total travel time is long, commonly around 9 to 12 hours depending on the routing, and a genuinely direct sailing is rare (roughly once a week).

Onboard, these ships offer reclining seats, cabins on longer runs, lounges, cafeterias, pet facilities, play areas and free Wi-Fi, and they carry cars, campervans, motorcycles and freight. Because of the duration, many people treat this as a vehicle-transport or overnight-style crossing rather than a quick trip.

For passengers without a vehicle, flying between the islands is far quicker, so the ferry mainly appeals to those moving a car or campervan, or who prefer a sea route.
