Alcúdia to Barcelona Ferry

The Port d'Alcúdia (Mallorca) to Barcelona ferry links the north coast of Mallorca directly with the Catalan capital. It is worth knowing that this is the less common Mallorca–Barcelona option: the busier, year-round mainland service runs from Palma, while the Alcúdia crossing is more seasonal and less frequent. If you are based in the north of the island, though, it can save a long drive down to Palma.

Operators and season

The route is served by Baleària and Trasmed (Acciona group). Baleària's fast ferry Margarita Salas is the headline service, covering Barcelona–Alcúdia in around 3 hours 30 minutes. This fast service typically runs from about April to October, roughly three to five times a week rather than daily, with conventional sailings filling parts of the calendar. Outside the summer window the direct Alcúdia link can be sparse or suspended, so travellers often fall back on the Palma–Barcelona route.

Ports and terminals

In Barcelona, Baleària generally uses the Moll Adossat (Terminal F) area, while Trasmed and other operators sail from the Moll de Sant Bertran terminal — check your ticket for the exact quay, as they are some distance apart. On the island, Alcúdia's port sits in the bay of Alcúdia, handy for Port de Pollença, Playa de Muro, Can Picafort and Formentor.

What you can bring

Both operators carry cars, motorhomes, motorcycles, pets and cabins on the longer conventional crossings. Because sailings are limited and seasonal, book well ahead in summer and verify the timetable for your exact date before travelling.
