About

About DeWaterbus

DeWaterbus is the fast passenger-boat service on the River Scheldt at Antwerp, Belgium — a public river-transport line pitched as a jam-free alternative to the car. Launched on 1 July 2017, it links the Port of Antwerp, the city centre and the riverside towns along the Scheldt.

Along the Scheldt

Catamaran waterbuses call at eight stops running from Lillo and the harbour forts in the north down to Hemiksem in the south, passing Kallo, Zwijndrecht, Sint-Anna, Steenplein in the city centre and Kruibeke. The city segment shuttles between the centre and the left bank; boats leave roughly every half hour from early morning until nearly midnight, an end-to-end run of about an hour.

Bikes ride free

The Damen-built catamarans carry 75–125 passengers and are fully accessible to pedestrians and cyclists — bicycles and scooters travel free, making the waterbus a key link across a river with few bridges. City- and port-zone hops cost about €1, with higher fares for the longer north and south zones; children under five ride free. Tickets are bought on board, online or in the app.
