Ferries from Hemiksem

You cannot sail directly from Hemiksem to Antwerp, although you can sail directly from Antwerp to Hemiksem. Two boats a week make the 5.4 nautical mile run down from Steenplein at 06:30 and 07:30 on weekdays; nothing is scheduled in the opposite direction, so the way back into the city is via Kruibeke.

That Kruibeke link is the real service: 2.0 nautical miles, 10 minutes outbound and 13 minutes on the return, with 80 departures a week and 78 arrivals between 06:17 and 22:30.

Hemiksem is the upstream end of the Antwerp waterbus network, on the left bank of the Scheldt south of the city. DeWaterbus publishes three separate calendars here — Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday — and the two morning boats from Steenplein appear on the weekday sheet only.
