Ferries from Liefkenshoek

Liefkenshoek sits inside the working port rather than in Antwerp itself, on the left bank of the Scheldt where the Waasland canal cuts inland. Nothing about the pontoon is scenic and nothing about its timetable is casual: the first boat for Kallosluis casts off at 05:05 and the last at 23:05, which brackets a shift day rather than a visitor day.

The two neighbours could hardly be less alike. Kallosluis is 1.8 nautical miles downstream, a 17 minute run and the longest leg worked from this pontoon; Lillo is 0.3 nautical miles across, done in 5 to 7 minutes. Across the week DeWaterbus schedules 112 departures towards Kallosluis and 109 towards Lillo, with 109 and 112 coming back the other way.

One detail catches people out. DeWaterbus does not run a single timetable with weekend exceptions; it publishes three separate calendars, one for Monday to Friday, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. A departure you used on a Thursday may simply not exist on the Sunday, so the day you travel decides the timetable you should be reading.
