Ferries from Sint Anna

Two of the earliest scheduled movements anywhere on the Antwerp waterbus network both involve this pontoon. At 04:30 a boat crosses from Steenplein to Sint Anna, and at 04:37 one leaves Sint Anna for Zwijndrecht. Whatever else the left bank is, it is awake before the city opposite.

The stop sits on the left bank opposite Antwerp's old centre, at the western end of the pedestrian tunnel under the Scheldt. Steenplein is barely 0.7 nautical miles across the water, yet the crossing is timetabled at 10 minutes outbound and only 7 minutes back — the current does not treat both directions equally. Zwijndrecht, 3.4 nautical miles upstream, takes 21 minutes either way.

Volumes split accordingly: 112 arrivals a week from Steenplein against 80 departures towards it, and a steady 110 in each direction on the Zwijndrecht pair. Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday each have their own published timetable.
