What happened to the old Rijeka to Split coastal ferry?
Jadrolinija ran this long coastal line for around 60 years, connecting Rijeka, Split, Hvar, Korčula, Mljet and Dubrovnik on a single route. It was withdrawn as demand shifted toward shorter high-frequency island links and operating and fuel costs rose.
How can I travel between Rijeka and Split now?
The most practical options are the frequent daily buses along the coastal motorway, which take about four to five hours, or driving the A1 motorway. There is no single ferry connecting the two cities.
Does Jadrolinija still sail from Rijeka and Split?
Yes, but on separate regional networks. From Rijeka you can reach the Kvarner islands such as Rab, Cres and Lošinj, and from Split you can reach Brač, Hvar, Vis, Šolta and the southern Dalmatian islands. These are not a through Rijeka to Split service.
