About Schlüttsiel
Schlüttsiel is a ferry terminal and not much else — a slipway, a car park and a bus stop behind the dyke, twenty kilometres north of Husum. It exists to serve the Halligen, the unembanked marsh islands that lie out in the tidal flats and flood several times each winter.
W.D.R. sails from here to Hallig Hooge in 75 minutes and on to Hallig Langeneß in 105, twice a day between late March and the start of November. From November the service drops to five days a week and stops entirely on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The return crossings take longer than the outbound ones — 95 minutes from Hooge, 2 hours 20 from Langeneß — because the boat works against the tidal stream coming back. A single fare to either Hallig is €11.30, a return €17.80. Onward bus and rail connections are listed at nah.sh; there is nothing at the terminal itself to wait in for long.
