About

About Sundbåten

Crossings take between 5 and 25 minutes with the Norwegian public transport ferry service Sundbåten. The service connects four islands in Kristiansund harbour: Kirkelandet, Innlandet, Nordlandet, and Gomalandet. Sundbåten has operated continuously since 1876. The system functions as a circular route, with departures every 30 minutes on weekdays and hourly during evenings and weekends. The operator's routes are integrated into the local public transport system of Møre og Romsdal county.

Sundbåten Ports and Connections

Sundbåten serves six specific quays, also known as Sundbåtkai. These are located at Gomalandet, Innlandet, Kirkelandet, and Nordlandet. There are additional stops at Melkvikan and Kirklandet. From the Kirkelandet Sundbåtkai, passengers can connect to the Kystekspressen high-speed catamaran service, which provides onward travel to Trondheim. The entire circular trip takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Tickets are valid for one hour, allowing for multiple stops within that time frame.

The service is operated by the vessel Angvik. Onboard amenities include an indoor passenger saloon and open deck space. The ferry is accessible for wheelchair users and individuals with reduced mobility. Bicycles can be transported on the ferry. All routes are managed within Norway. Timetables and operational updates are available through the operator's official website and local transport authority channels.
