About the Melkvikan SundbåtkaiGomalandet Sundbåtkai crossing

33 sailings a day between Melkvikan and Gomalandet, from 07.24 until 21.15. Four minutes across.

The oldest shelter still standing

Gomalandet's waiting hut is timber, about six square metres, and dates from roughly 1920 — the eldest of the four and, by the company's own admission, not easy to spot at first glance. It sits twenty metres back from the boarding point.

Two stops, two eras

This short hop links the newest quay on the circuit with the oldest shelter on it. Melkvikan is still waiting for its shelter to be built; Gomalandet's has been in place for over a century.

Practical

Free, no ticket, no booking. Sundbåten was voted the town's cultural pearl by Kristiansund's own residents in 1997.

  • MS Angvik available for meetings and lunches
