About the Kirklandet SundbåtkaiInnlandet Sundbåtkai crossing

The first leg of Kristiansund's harbour circuit and its earliest departure: 07.00 from Kirkelandet, arriving at Innlandet four minutes later. 33 sailings a day, the last around 20.45.

Where the loop begins

Kirkelandet is the town centre and the pivot of the whole service — the boat returns here twice in every lap. From this quay it sets off westward to Innlandet before continuing to Nordlandet.

The shelter at the other end

Innlandet's waiting shelter is a flat-roofed concrete box of about six square metres, put up in 1954 and standing ten metres from the boarding point. It was not admired: a reader's letter that year called it "a very sad, greyish stall, apparently designed as a miniature cold store". It is still there.
