Frequently asked questions
Is there a direct ferry from Sestrunj to Molat?
There is no separate Sestrunj–Molat boat, but the two islands are consecutive stops on Jadrolinija local line 433 (Zadar – Rivanj – Sestrunj – Zverinac – Molat – Ist). The ferry calls at Sestrunj, then Zverinac, then Molat, so you stay aboard one continuous sailing.
How long does the Sestrunj to Molat crossing take?
It is a short island hop with only Zverinac in between, so the leg takes well under an hour. The full line from Zadar out to Ist runs up to roughly three hours end to end.
Can I take a car from Sestrunj to Molat?
Yes. Line 433 is operated with a ro-ro car ferry that carries vehicles as well as foot passengers, so cars can travel between the two islands, subject to available deck space.
How often does the ferry run?
In the high summer season there are usually two sailings a day (about fourteen a week from Zadar); in the low season it drops to one or two a day (around ten a week). Always check the current Jadrolinija timetable, as sailings are limited.
Do I need to book in advance?
As a local lifeline line, foot-passenger tickets are generally bought at the port and fares are low. In peak summer, arrive early if you are bringing a vehicle, because car space on the small-island rotation fills quickly.
How much does a ticket cost?
Ticket prices vary by operator, season and whether you bring a vehicle. Check the operator (Jadrolinija) for current fares.
Who operates this ferry?
Served by Jadrolinija.
Does the ferry run all year?
Sailing frequency on this route varies by season. Confirm current dates with the operator before travelling.
Can I take a pet on this ferry?
Most ferry operators allow pets on this route, usually in a carrier, on deck or in designated pet areas or cabins, and registered assistance dogs travel free. Rules and any fees vary by operator and vessel — check with Jadrolinija, so declare your pet when booking.
What's the luggage allowance?
Foot passengers can normally bring their own luggage aboard at no extra charge, with racks or a luggage area near the entrance, and there is usually no airline-style weight limit. Oversized or excess items may carry a fee, so check with the operator if you are travelling with bulky baggage.
Where can I check live sailing times?
