Mahón to Valencia Ferry

The Maó / Mahón (Menorca) to Valencia ferry is the direct maritime link between Menorca's capital and Spain's eastern mainland coast. It is a long, infrequent conventional crossing rather than a quick hop — often the least frequent of Menorca's mainland connections — so planning around the timetable matters.

Operator and frequency

The route is operated mainly by Trasmed (Acciona), with Baleària and GNV also listed on Valencia–Menorca connections. Service runs year-round but only about once a week, using conventional ferries suited to the long distance. Because sailings are so limited, it is to check current schedules before committing to travel dates.

Crossing time and intermediate stops

This is not always a straight run. Depending on the sailing, the ship may call at Palma (Mallorca) and/or Ibiza en route, which stretches the total journey considerably. Direct or lightly-routed crossings run around 15 to 16 hours, while itineraries with a stop in Ibiza can reach about 16 hours 30 minutes, and those calling at both Palma and Ibiza can total roughly 18 hours. A typical departure leaves Valencia around 22:00 and reaches Maó the following afternoon; check the direction and specific sailing, as timings vary.

Onboard and vehicles

As an overnight conventional service, the ferry offers cabins and reclining seats and carries cars, motorhomes, motorcycles, pets and freight. Given the length of the crossing, a cabin is strongly advisable. Always confirm whether your chosen sailing is direct or routed via Palma and Ibiza, and book well ahead, since the once-weekly frequency leaves little flexibility.
