About the Laveno – Verbania-Intra crossing

A road across the water
Laveno sits on the Lombardy shore, Verbania Intra on the Piedmont side. Driving between them means going round the lake — an hour or more. The ferry replaces that with twenty minutes, which is why it runs at a frequency no excursion boat would need and keeps going through the small hours.
Not the same as the island boats
Most of Gestione Governativa Navigazione Laghi's Maggiore services are passenger craft working the Borromean islands out of Stresa, running eight in the morning to seven at night.
