Ferries from Verbania-Intra

Intra is the eastern terminal of the car ferry across Lake Maggiore to Laveno, 86 sailings running from midnight to 23:30 on a twenty-minute crossing. The lake is long and narrow, and this is the only vehicle crossing on its Italian stretch — going round by road means an hour or more either way, which is why the service runs overnight and why local traffic dominates it. Navigazione Laghi operates it as part of the state lake fleet. Verbania sits on the Piedmont shore below the Alps, and the crossing gives the standard view of the Borromean Islands to the south. The lake is deep enough here that the ferry route is unobstructed year-round; it is the water level at the quays rather than the crossing itself that varies with the season.
