Las Palmas to Huelva Ferry

The Las Palmas to Huelva ferry is the fast-growing Atlantic link between Gran Canaria and the Andalusian port of Huelva, and from 2026 it is operated solely by Fred. Olsen Express. In a significant shake-up of the Canaries-mainland market, Fred. Olsen Express took over the Huelva line on its own from mid-2026, deploying its recently renovated flagship Buenavista Express after the service had previously been shared. Huelva has emerged as the up-and-coming western gateway to the islands, complementing the longer-established Cádiz routes.

The Buenavista Express

The vessel headlining this route is a serious piece of hardware: 172 metres long, with capacity for around 944 passengers, 390 vehicles and up to 1,850 linear metres of cargo. Fred. Olsen markets the crossing as a mini-cruise rather than mere transport, with cabins ranging from reclining seats and bunk berths to double and quad rooms, plus a dining room and buffet, cafeterias, a work area, leisure spaces, dedicated pet areas, and a swimming pool with solarium and terraces.

Duration and frequency

The connection - which links Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Huelva - runs an approximate 33-hour crossing, with three to four weekly departures depending on the season.
