Civitavecchia to Olbia Ferry

Two departure windows, not four scattered sailings: a morning crossing at 08:30 and a night one just before eleven, both covering the 105 nautical miles between Civitavecchia and Olbia in seven to seven and a half hours. Fares start around €38.

Who sails when

Tirrenia is the constant: it runs both slots, 08:30–16:00 and 23:00–06:30, every day and with no end date on the published schedule. Moby Lines adds the fast morning option with the Moby Tommy, arriving 15:30 — half an hour quicker than anything else on the route. Grimaldi Lines takes the night, leaving 22:45 on the Cruise Bonaria. The Moby and Grimaldi sailings are listed for 1 June to 30 September 2026 only; outside those dates Tirrenia is what remains.

Morning or overnight

The choice is really about what you do with the day. Leave at 08:30 and you land mid-afternoon with the drive across Sardinia still ahead of you. Take the 22:45 or 23:00 and you arrive just after dawn having slept aboard — both night sailings sell cabins, which is why they are timed to fill a full night rather than to be quick.

Where else these ports go

Civitavecchia is the sea gate for Rome, an hour and a quarter northwest of the city, and its other lines run to Cagliari, Arbatax and Porto Torres in Sardinia, to Palermo and Termini Imerese in Sicily, and across to Tunis and Tangier. Olbia's own connections reach Genoa and Livorno on the mainland.

Moby acquired Tirrenia outright in 2015, so both names lead to the same sailings — useful to know when a booking confirmation carries a company you did not expect. Tirrenia's own departures here run to an open-ended timetable from January, while the Moby and Grimaldi sailings are dated 1 June to 30 September. The published crossing is 7 to 7.5 hours by day and 7.5 to 8 hours overnight.
