Ferries from Venjaneset ferjekai

Venjaneset is the Fusa side of the Bjørnafjord shuttle — 54 sailings back to Hatvik — and what it opens up is the road east: the back way from Bergen into the Hardangerfjord that avoids the coastal detour entirely.

The crossing

Venjaneset to Hatvik takes about 12 minutes, with 54 sailings and 108 across the quay in both directions, operated by Skyss.

The numbers on this crossing

12 minutes of water against a road journey of roughly 60 minutes round the head of the fjord. That factor of five is why the service runs at commuter frequency rather than a few times a day, and why nobody here treats the boat as an event.

Where the road goes east

From this quay the road runs through Eikelandsosen and on toward Jondal, Norheimsund and the Kvanndal crossing of the Hardangerfjord. It is slower and emptier than the main road, and considerably shorter in distance.

For a driver heading from Bergen to the Hardanger fruit district, this is the line that looks wrong on a map and is right in practice.

⚠ Nothing at the quay itself

Fusa is a rural district of farms and forest with no town of any size. Eikelandsosen, about 20 minutes east, is the administrative centre and the nearest place with shops. Plan fuel and food on one side or the other.

What the boat carries

Commuters into Os and Bergen, local traffic and school transport — a working crossing on a working road. Summer adds through-traffic heading for Hardanger but does not change the shape of the day.

Boarding

Vehicles are not booked in advance. Queue, board in arrival order, and the toll comes off the plate through AutoPASS. Walking on costs nothing.
