Ferries from Hatvik ferjekai

That frequency is commuter frequency, not island-supply frequency, and it shapes everything about how the crossing behaves.

Where it puts you

Venjaneset is on the Fusa side, from which the road runs east toward Eikelandsosen, Jondal and the Hardangerfjord. Hatvik is minutes from Osøyro and about forty minutes from Bergen.

For anyone routing from Bergen into inner Hardanger, this crossing plus the roads beyond is the short way.

⚠ The peak here is the working day, not the holiday

Unlike the island crossings further out, the heavy loading is weekday mornings and evenings. A summer Saturday is comparatively easy; a Tuesday at eight is not.

The Bjørnafjord

The fjord this crosses is the one the Hordfast project proposes to bridge, on the E39 further west at Halhjem. A fixed link there would change traffic patterns across the whole district, including here.

Nothing has been built, and the arguments have run for years.

Before you board

No reservation system exists for these crossings. Cars queue, load in the order they arrived, and the toll is read from the registration plate. Foot passengers and cyclists cross free.
