Ferries from Southern Gulf Islands

This record is a route group, not a terminal. "Southern Gulf Islands" is how BC Ferries labels the collection of sailings serving Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Saturna and Salt Spring — there is no quay of that name, and no ferry docks here.

• Saturna Island (Lyall Harbour) — 48 sailings.
• Salt Spring (Long Harbour), Vesuvius Bay and Fulford Harbour.

Our timetable ingested the group code as though it were a port. We would rather say that plainly than serve a page pretending to describe a quay that does not exist. Use the terminal pages above.

What the group has in common

These islands are served on interlocking rotations from Tsawwassen near Vancouver and Swartz Bay near Victoria. A single sailing may call at two or three islands, which is why the same crossing takes 49 minutes to Galiano and over two hours to Saturna.

Reservations exist on the Tsawwassen sailings only; everything else runs first-come, first-served. That one rule governs how to plan a Gulf Islands trip more than any timetable does.

Parking across the group

Uniformly minimal. Mayne offers 12 spaces, Pender free parking with a 48-hour limit, Galiano and Saturna roadside only, Long Harbour 12 spaces with a 20-minute limit.

The Southern Gulf Islands are not somewhere to leave a vehicle. Plan to bring it across or to be dropped off.
