Long Harbour to Tsawwassen takes about 1 hour 23 minutes, with 15 sailings and 29 across the terminal in both directions. Operated by BC Ferries.
The sailing often calls at other Gulf Islands on the way, which is why the crossing time varies more than a point-to-point route would.
⚠ Salt Spring has three terminals and they face three directions
- Long Harbour — east side, to Tsawwassen and the mainland. This page.
- Vesuvius Bay — northwest, to Crofton on Vancouver Island, about 25 minutes.
- Fulford Harbour — south, to Swartz Bay near Victoria.
They are twenty to thirty minutes apart by road across a hilly island. Booking the wrong one is not a small error.
Parking, properly understood
The 12 free spaces at the terminal carry a 20-minute limit — enough to unload and go. There is limited free overnight roadside parking outside the terminal, and that is the whole of it.
Anyone leaving a vehicle on Salt Spring for a trip to the mainland should look at Ganges, not at this quay.
