About Norderney
Norderney is the East Frisian island you can drive to — or rather, drive onto: the 60-minute ferry from Norddeich Mole carries cars, which sets it apart from car-free Juist next door.
The crossing
Year-round at regular intervals, operated by Reederei Frisia from Fährbrücke 2. An electric catamaran works the express service alongside the conventional ferries. Book ahead in summer — vehicle space goes before passenger seats.
On the island
A local bus network and e-bike hire, both run by companies in the ferry group, cover the island; many visitors leave the car in Norddeich's harbour car parks and manage without it.
