About

About Marmaris

Rhodes is fifty minutes away and it is the only scheduled international crossing from this harbour. Everything else leaving Marmaris is a gulet, a day boat or a yacht — which tells you what kind of port this is.

The crossing

Marmaris to Rhodes takes about 50 minutes, with 4 sailings in our timetable, operated by Yeşil Marmaris. 7 active sailings across the port.

A route to Symi is also listed but currently holds no active departures in our data.

⚠ This is a border, and the day-trip version has extra rules

Crossing to Rhodes means passport control and an EU external frontier. Day-trip tickets sold in Marmaris often come with specific conditions about returning on the same boat, and the visa position differs depending on nationality and on whether you are staying overnight.

Ask the operator what the ticket actually permits before buying. The formalities are the expensive part of this crossing, not the fare.

The castle was built for this crossing

Marmaris Castle above the harbour was rebuilt by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1522, during his campaign against Rhodes. The fleet that took the island gathered in this bay.

Five centuries later the fifty-minute boat runs the same water for a day trip. Few ferry routes have a fortress standing over them that exists because of where the route goes.

The harbour

Marmaris sits at the head of a deep, almost enclosed bay ringed by pine-covered hills, which is why it became a yachting centre before it became a resort. Marmaris Yacht Marina alone holds 1,750 berths and Netsel in the town another 830 — against 7 scheduled ferry sailings.

The district has around 97,800 residents across 906 km². Dalaman airport is roughly an hour and a half east.

Season

The Rhodes service is a summer operation. Sailings run frequently from spring through autumn and reduce sharply or stop in winter — a pattern common to every Turkish-Greek crossing in the Dodecanese.

Check current schedules directly rather than assuming continuity from a summer timetable.

What else leaves the quay

The Gulf of Gökova and the Datça peninsula west of here are the main cruising grounds of the Turkish coast, and most boats leaving Marmaris are chartered rather than scheduled. If you are looking for a way along the coast rather than across to Greece, that is the market you are in.
