Tsui Wah Ferry Service (HK) Ltd runs licensed kaito services around Hong Kong’s edges — the small routes that reach places the big operators do not. 94 departures across 20 routes are recorded here, and the single most useful thing on the company’s own website is not the timetable. It is the notices.

Cancellations come one departure at a time

This operator adjusts services by individual sailing rather than by route. As an example of how it works: the company announced that from Tuesday 23 June 2026 the Aberdeen/Stanley–Po Toi Island kaito, licence reference ABDN 15, would drop the 10:30 departure from Stanley on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — that departure only, on those three days only. Separately, a trial Friday service on the same route ended on 31 May 2026. Neither change alters the route’s existence, so a route-level timetable will not show them.

The Octopus refund rule has a deadline of minutes

If you think you were overcharged when you tapped your Octopus card, you must raise it on the spot, on the day, with the on-duty staff. The company states it can otherwise refuse the refund outright. And a refund is not free: the handling fee is HK$10 to HK$20 per ticket, depending on destination. On a short kaito run that fee can be a serious fraction of the fare, which effectively makes small overcharges not worth reclaiming once you have walked off the pier.

Where the boats actually go

The busiest pair here is Aberdeen to Yung Shue Wan on Lamma Island, 35 minutes, with 17 departures out and 16 back. In the northeast, Wong Shek to Tap Mun runs 12 minutes with 12 departures and 15 on the return. And Po Toi Island to Stanley is 20 minutes with five departures — the sparse, weather-exposed run to Hong Kong’s southernmost inhabited island.

The boats do other work when they are not on the timetable

Alongside the scheduled kaitos the company charters vessels out, including for night squid fishing, on a separate booking line. That is normal for kaito operators: the licensed scheduled service is one revenue stream on a small fleet, and charter fills the gaps. It also explains why a route can carry five departures a week rather than five a day and still be viable.

The business also trades as Tsui Wah Travel, so the same organisation appears under a tour operator name as well as a ferry one.
