Strömma runs sightseeing boats, buses and dining cruises across northern Europe — and in Gothenburg its boats work the harbour, the Göta älv and the southern archipelago.

Meals are the product

A striking share of the Gothenburg programme is food afloat: a brunch cruise through the southern archipelago, a small archipelago tour with lunch, a dinner cruise around Hisingen, a prawn and salmon cruise with a troubadour, a räkfrossa — prawn feast — and a shellfish cruise. On this coast the seafood is the reason people get on the boat.

Excursions

Guided trips run to Vinga, the lighthouse island at the mouth of the harbour, and to Nya Älvsborg fortress on its island in the river — plus a circuit around Hisingen and a guided small-archipelago tour.

A much larger network

Gothenburg is one node. The group also operates in Stockholm, Malmö and Uppsala — including the Göta Canal, the Viking town of Birka and Vaxholm Castle — and abroad in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Berlin, Helsinki and across Norway from Bergen and Geiranger to Lofoten.

The Gothenburg boats run in a circle

Read the five Gothenburg legs as one loop rather than five routes. A boat leaves Kungsportsplatsen at 11:00, reaches Lejontrappan at 11:15, Lilla Bommen at 11:30, Eriksberg at 11:50, Fiskekyrkan at 12:10 and returns to Kungsportsplatsen — a circuit of about 85 minutes, repeated eight times a day until the last departure at 17:25.

Each leg carries the same eight departures, which is what a loop looks like in a route-based timetable. In the Stockholm archipelago the pattern is different: Vaxholm to Gåshaga carries four. Nothing here starts before eleven in the morning — this is a daytime sightseeing operation, not a commuter service, and the timetable makes no pretence otherwise.
